Meet our staff

Addison Barlow, BSW, RSW

Camp Director

Addison is a full-time youth worker and registered social worker, graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. She is the camp director and helped developed the program and supervise and mentor the counsellors. She has over 5 years of experience working with youth, and was previously a summer camp program director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the youth outreach program for the YMCA of Hamilton/Brantford/Burlington. She is a Canadian Forces reservist and lives and works in Ancaster.

Addison brings a spark and energy to our camp that will really engage with the young minds of our campers, and she is dedicated to providing a safe, positive space for youth no matter their background or lived experience. Addison has her “Basic” level Transport Canada small remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) certificate, is an avid photographer and a mom to a busy six year old.

Ray Morrell, CD

Program Director, Chief Flight Instructor

Ray holds a Transport Canada “Advanced” pilot certificate with a Flight Reviewer rating, and he is responsible for developing our drone curriculum. Ray has experience in mentoring and coaching youth through his previous volunteer work as a youth baseball coach. He has been active in the field of safety training since 2003 and is a health & safety committee co-chair at his full-time workplace. He has also been a Canadian Forces reservist for over 20 years.

Ray is licenced to fly drones in 34 countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and all 31 European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) nations. He regularly flies drones for photography and photogrammetry, and is a dad to two teenagers.

Uzair

Lead Counsellor, Flight Reviewer

Uzair holds a Transport Canada “Advanced” drone Pilot Certificate and recently became a qualified flight reviewer. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a rewarding career, and Uzair has worked with industry leaders and youth in exciting drone concepts such as drone delivery, “first-person-view” (FPV) drone flying, and drone search and rescue.

Amaan

Counsellor

Amaan is a high school student with a strong interest in math and science, and an active community volunteer. This is his first camp counsellor job, and he has really enjoyed working with and mentoring youths, applying his block-based coding experience and positive attitude.

Rhea

Rhea is an enthusiastic “graduate” of our first March Break camp, where she says her favorite thing was the drone obstacle course. She loves to watch movies and TV shows in her free time and her favorite fruit is mangoes. She obtained her “Basic” RPAS pilot certificate this year.

Ethan

Counsellor-in-training

Ethan enjoys technology, video gaming, and playing soccer. His favorite subjects at school are math and science. Ethan, along with brother Zachary, attended the March Break session of ONdronecamp and earned their “wings” and also passed the Transport Canada “Basic” RPAS pilot exam

Zachary

Counsellor-in-training

Zachary also likes math and science, as well as computer programming. He especially likes learning about how machines and technology are built. During the March Break ONdronecamp, which he attended with his brother Ethan, he really enjoyed the coding and drone flying. Zachary also graduated with his “Basic” pilot certification.

All of our adult staff hold current Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC’s) through their local police service.
